48"x42" Acrylic and nails on canvas The Statement Series is visually one of the most inconsistent series of my work. This was an experimental stage of my artistic career. I’ve made visual statements about life and society by using nails and collage. The nails represent pain, physical and mental. I also used repetition of images on paper. All of this was combined with painting that tends to smear and run down the canvas. I enjoy the physical act of smudging the wet acrylic paint and putting nails through materials. When viewing each of these pieces, remember that the details and titles of the pieces give away the meanings. Challenge yourself to reveal the true meanings of these paintings.
